I made two visits to the Camino Frances (now the Camino de Santiago) this year, offering first aid and pastoral care.
The April visit was on the Meseta from Burgos and the second, in September, I took my small car, based myself on a campsite outside Estella and patrolled between Roncesvalles and Los Arcos.
I am unable to walk distances now (I am nearly 77 and with an ancient and worsening knee disability) and found that although driving was less fun for me - I missed the ambling along Camino - it enabled me to visit as many places as I wanted and I was able to concentrate on certain sections.
One dawn I set up at Alto del Perdon, outside Pamplona, and stayed all day, until the very last pilgrim had passed.
I shall probably go by car on future missions.
Next outing should be May 2025 - and I am looking forward to it already!
Buen Camino!
